Sony’s latest flagship wireless earbuds have some big boots to fill. The company’s WF-1000XM6 follow in the footsteps of the already excellent WF-1000XM5 (£169, Amazon.co.uk), which are some of the best wireless earbuds I’ve tested when it comes to noise cancellation and sound quality.
While Sony’s WF-1000XM5 outperformed many rival models at launch, over the years, competitors have caught up, and in some cases overtaken them. Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra 2 (£299, Amazon.co.uk), for instance, deliver eerie levels of silence that surpass the XM5, while other rivals have focused on improving comfort and fit. So can the Sony WF-1000XM6 win back the crown?
