A man who used Vinted for the first time recently couldn’t believe how much money he saved using the online app.
Jacob Davies has never been a ‘huge’ fan of shopping as he didn’t want to “pay huge fees for a single item of clothing at big brand retailers” but after hearing about Vinted, he was intrigued about what deals he could find on the platform, he told BirminghamLive. Vinted is a second-hand clothing platform that sells items for reduced prices.
Jacob said: “I spent the best part of an hour scrawling through the app as I am particularly fussy when it comes to clothes, despite having no sense of style whatsoever, and found four items which made their way into my basket in this time. I picked up two T-shirts, a pair of denim shorts and a varsity jacket, which came to a grand total of £15.50 (not including a couple of quid delivery on top, but that's effectively standard for any online purchase these days).”

The first t-shirt Jacob tried on from his order had a Star Wars comic print across the front, which he said he loved as he is: “a self-professed geek with a passion for nerd merch.” He found the same t-shirt being sold online for £18 but he managed to purchase the same t-shirt for £2 on Vinted.
The second t-shirt in his package was more minimalist and had The Beatles logo spread across the front. Jacob said: “This tee costs roughly £15 when I searched online, but only cost me £3 on Vinted. It was a little tighter than I was expecting but hey, I'm dieting at the moment anyway so it's always good to have a piece of clothing to aim for!”
Jacob’s next item was a pair of black denim shorts which he ‘confessed’ are: “the only shorts I seem to wear in the summer.” These were originally from Primark so he was surprised he could find them listed for even cheaper as he purchased them for £3 and they were in ‘excellent condition’.
The final item in his Vinted order was the ‘most exciting’ of his shop as he has always wanted to purchase one of these for years due to his love for American sports - a black and white varsity jacket. Jacob said: “This item wasn't the biggest bargain of them all however, as I realised after purchasing it for £7.50 on the app that the exact same jacket was listed for £11 on large retail sites.”
The jacket however, did arrive with a ‘few scuffs’ on the sleeves but he said that he was made aware of this in the item description before buying and for the price he paid for it, he ‘really didn’t mind’ that it wasn’t in perfect condition.
Jacob totalled up his purchases and discovered that his: “£15.50 haul was worth roughly £52 from retailers, leaving a huge savings margin of £36.50 remaining for me to marvel at. All the clothing came in good to excellent condition and it was just such a swift, simple process that I will definitely be returning to the app for future hauls, and recommend you do so too if you're after bargain clothing.”
