When you have kids it can mean your relationship takes a backseat while you embark on a new adventure, with new responsibilities. However, there does come a time when they move out, and maybe your relationship can go back to what it used to.
However, that doesn't happen for everybody.
A mum has confessed that she paid for her children to go on holiday so she could continue having a secret affair behind his back.
After her children left for university she was hoping her marriage to her husband would go back to what it used to be, but when it didn't, she decided to cheat on him.
When her 19 and 21-year-old children returned from university for their summer holidays, the 44-year-old was left frantically searching for ways to continue her sneaky affair.
Georgia, from Leeds, admitted she has been seeing someone she met on a popular website for married people who want to have an affair, and has been meeting him while her husband was at work.
She decided the only way to get her kids out of the picture was to spend thousands of pounds on a backpacking holiday.
Speaking to The Sun, Georgia said: "It was the only solution I could find to continue my affair without the kids in the picture.
"It probably sounds extreme and like a lot of money to some people but it's a small amount to pay for everyone's happiness, including mine."
She also explained that she wanted to treat her kids for finishing their studies, so the holiday didn't come "completely out the blue".
Georgia added: "I just can't deal with the prospect of having to cut things off with my lover. And this was a win-win for everyone in my eyes."
Since their children went to university, the woman explained her marriage "fell apart," despite originally being excited to be able to spend some quality time together.
However, she said their relationship was "one sided," and she was the one who always had to suggest going on dates, while he just "dragged his heels".
She admits they are both unhappy, however they have agreed to "always stay together for the kids", or at least until they have moved out.
