As the cost of living crisis continues to bite grocery prices are getting more and more expensive. Almost half of us have been forced to change our shopping habits as a result. A survey by the Office for National Statistics, carried out between June 22 and July 3, found that about half (49%) of adults in the UK reported they were buying less food when food shopping while 48% reported they had to spend more than usual to get what they normally buy.
Many of us are on now on the hunt for low-cost alternatives. When it comes to supermarkets their cheaper own-brand items can be just as good as the leading brands. As a lifelong Asda shopper I know the store's own brand is pretty good across the board and I often choose it from the shelves.
But even more economical than Asda's own brand is its budget-friendly and super-cheap Smart Price range, which has been rebranded as 'Just Essentials'. Launched in 2021 Just Essentials is the largest value range in the market and, with 300 products, it has 50% more to offer than the Smart Price line it is replacing.
