'It cost me 26p to roast a chicken in the Ninja Multi-Cooker everyone is raving about'

Unless you've been hiding under a rock then you'll have heard people talking about air fryers.

With energy prices shooting up, they are the go-to product for keeping costs down as they use a fraction of what you'd typically spend by using a traditional oven.

Ninja products in particular are all the rage right now and while the air fryers are still in huge demand, there's another product that does the air frying and so much more - step forward the Ninja Foodi Max 9-in-1 Multi Cooker.

With nine different settings, it gives you more ways to cook, including air fry, grill, slow cook and pressure cook options.

It has a whopping 7.5 litre capacity – the largest in the range – so it's perfect for families who may have big meals to cook.

I decided to put it to the test to see how long it would take to roast a chicken.

It took less than 40 minutes altogether, starting off with the pressure cooker setting for around half of that time and then finishing it off with the 'air crisp'.

Using an electricity usage monitor I was able to see exactly what it had cost - and was rather astonished to find it had clocked up just 26p.

Obviously it's only impressive if you're happy with the end result and I have to say the chicken was cooked to perfection.

As I often cook a chicken in the slow cooker, I thought it may have dried out somewhat, but it was so tender on the inside.

I wouldn't normally eat the skin either but the crispness of it - and the taste simply from a bit of oil and salt being rubbed on it before the air fryer - meant it was irresistible.

I know some people are daunted by the pressure cooker element of it, as well as the various settings, but it really couldn't be easier to use. Plus it's simple to clean too.

It also comes with its own recipe book to give you some ideas and it includes cooking charts to tell you how long different items take.

The Multi-Cooker isn't the cheapest option, it costs £229 from AO, but the list of things you can cook in it is endless, plus - if you were wanting an air fryer and a slow cooker for instance - it saves you the space and money of buying the products separately.

And when it's costing just pennies to cook a whole chicken, it won't take long before you're clawing that money back.
