'I regret the name husband chose for our son and feel weird every time I say it'

Choosing a name for your baby is undoubtedly difficult considering how it will follow them for life. After agreeing to her husband's favourite baby name for their son, a mum has admitted that she now regrets choosing the name 'so much' three years later.

Taking to popular forum Mumsnet, the woman sought advice as she admitted that the name feels 'weird' to say out loud. In addition, she regrets not being able to introduce a name that she loves.

In the post, she wrote: "I wouldn't normally do a post like this but I'm really struggling with my son's name and I just need a place to vent."

She went on: "He is nearly three years old and there is nothing I can do about it now. We couldn't agree on names and I ended up agreeing to my husband's favourite straight after a c-section.

"I had so much regret the year after he was born but could never quite bring myself to change it.

"I think if my husband had known I would still be agonising over it three years later he would have let me change it.

"I love names and have been thinking about them since I was a young girl so to not have been able to use my favourite names has really got to me. My son's name is Cillian.

"It has a K sound for those that don't know. Please don't post anything negative about it.

"Every time I introduce him I feel weird saying his name, and I feel regret that I can't introduce a name I love.

"There are so many names I love. I adore my little boy so much and feel a lot of guilt about this," she added.

Taking to the comment section, Mumsnet users were torn over how they felt about the name Cillian - while some thought it was 'unpleasant', others thought it was 'gorgeous'.

One person wrote: "I would change it. The 'kill' sound is unpleasant."

Meanwhile, a different user said: "Probably not helpful but I really love the name Cillian.."

A third agreed: "I totally love it!"

"Cillian is a gorgeous name, op," a fifth penned.
