Danny Murphy says Liverpool reducing the gap at the top of the Premier League table to just six points is 'why you can’t hand out the prizes in January or February'.
The Reds came from behind to beat Norwich 3-1 on Saturday afternoon before title rivals Manchester City fell to a dramatic 3-2 defeat at home to Tottenham.
The gap between the two teams is now just six points, but Liverpool have a game in hand as they prepare to face Leeds United in their rescheduled fixture on Wednesday night.
Yesterday's results line-up what could be a very intense and dramatic title race and, while many felt Pep Guardiola's side were uncatchable, Murphy says a one-club procession was 'never on the cards'.

"I received a bit of stick when I said last week that the title race wasn’t over," the former Liverpool midfielder wrote in his column for the Mail on Sunday.
"But Saturday’s swing underlines why you can’t hand out the Premier League prizes in January or February.
"The truth is Manchester City and Liverpool are closely matched so a one-club procession was never on the cards.
"Either would be worthy champions. It promises to be a fascinating race and this weekend adds to the intrigue.
"Football has a habit of shifting both at the top and bottom. So just as I did last week backing Liverpool to stay in the fight, one defeat won’t knock City for six.
"Put the meeting between them on April 9 into your diary. It will be huge."
Liverpool and Manchester City face each other at the Etihad in April in what could be a title decider should they both still be within touching distance.
It could go right to the wire, as it did in the 2018/19 season when Jurgen Klopp's side were pipped to the honours by just a single point on the final day of the campaign.
The Reds will hope to be on the right side of that this time around as they look to win their second league title in two years and reclaim the prize from City.
