
Scotland’s Deputy First Minister has said he “profoundly” disagrees with the religious stance taken by SNP leadership contender Kate Forbes, despite being “a man of deep Christian faith”.
John Swinney was speaking as a row raged over Ms Forbes’ views, with the would-be first minister revealing she would have voted against the introduction of same-sex marriage and that having children outside of marriage “would be wrong according to my faith”.
