When it comes to luxury luggage, the premium British brand Carl Friedrik easily rivals Rimowa and Louis Vuitton. Now, I’ve spotted its luggage in The Gentlemen season two.
The hit Netflix show returned this week. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the dark comedy follows English aristocrat Eddie Horniman (Theo James), who inherits his family estate only to discover a profitable criminal empire is run by Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) from within the impoverished estate. The second season sees Eddie get dragged deeper into the criminal underworld of old-money aristocrats and international power players.
The show is distinctly stylish, from Eddie’s British heritage wardrobe (checks, Barbour jackets and flat caps) to Susie’s Mob wife-inspired looks (big sunglasses, red lips and matching red suits).
Carl Friedrik’s Hybrid collection crops up throughout the season, with the check-in case serving as the luggage for the royal Sheikh Amir (Amra Mallassi) and Eddie himself. But it’s not just aristocrats putting their seal of approval on Carl Friedrik luggage; aspirational characters in The White Lotus and fictional billionaire businessmen in Succession have also been spotted with the brand’s bags, which represent an unshowy display of wealth.

Founded by two Swedish brothers with a Bauhaus-inspired aesthetic, Carl Friedrik began life as a London-based leather brand selling wallets and briefcases. Today, its expanded product line is functional, minimalist and logo-free – the kind of luggage that has people asking in the passport queue where you got it.
