"I’m tired as hell. I need a recovery beer."
Add “relatable” to the list of impressive qualities Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic showcased Tuesday night after his 60-point triple-double powered Dallas to a comeback overtime win.
He managed to show he was human after an unreal performance. What’s more relatable than a recovery beer after hard days’ work.
Here was Doncic’s response to “it’s never been done in NBA history.”
In the Mavericks’ 126-121 win Tuesday, Doncic tallied a career-high 60 points and added 21 rebounds and 10 assists in 47 minutes. To say it was the most impressive and taxing triple-double of his career seems fair.
He shattered Dirk Nowitzki’s single-game franchise scoring record just days after No. 41′s statue was unveiled in Victory Plaza.
Any stat line compared to Wilt Chamberlain will be absurd. Chamberlain was putting up video game numbers 30 years before the first NBA 2K title was released. Not even Chamberlain tallied a 60-point, 20-rebound triple-double.
That feat belongs solely to Doncic now.
After Doncic’s admittance to needing a recovery beer, he was showered in the Mavs’ locker room. Maybe, hopefully he actually got that recovery beer.
