I made the viral Biscoff ice cream balls in the air fryer- yes that's right, ice cream in an air fryer.
As the UK is currently going through a mini heatwave, there is no better sweet treat to keep us cool than ice cream. The dessert I made isn’t just your average bowl of ice cream as it is made in the air fryer.
As a lover of anything Biscoff flavoured, I knew I had to give this dessert a go myself after seeing it on TikTok. The video shared by @grumpynorthenfoodie, a ‘recipe creator and foodie’, has over one million likes on TikTok.

To make this dessert, only four ingredients are needed. These are; Biscoff biscuits, Biscoff spread, vanilla ice cream and two eggs.
How to:
1. Crush up your Biscoff biscuits so they resemble a crumb like consistency.
2. Roll your ice cream into balls (you can do this with a scoop or spoon and you can make as many as you would like)
3. Roll the ice cream balls in the Biscoff crumbs and freeze these for one hour
4. After one hour, whisk two eggs together in a bowl and take the ice cream balls out of the freezer
5. Coat the ice cream balls in the egg wash one by one before coating them in another layer of Biscoff crumbs
6. Freeze again for one hour
7. Bake them for two minutes at 200 degrees
8. Serve and cover in melted Biscoff spread
The verdict:
Throughout the whole process of making this frozen dessert, I couldn’t get the thought out of my head that they resembled two massive scotch eggs which made me feel slightly apprehensive to try them. After taking them out of the air fryer, I was so happy to see that they hadn’t melted and had kept their full shape - I was feeling very impressed.
The flavours of the vanilla ice cream and Biscoff were lovely together and something so simple that I’ve never tried before. Don’t get me wrong, I ate all of the dessert but it was just OK - they didn't have any 'wow factor'.
I love the idea of the dessert as it is something very different and fun but I'm pretty sure you would get the same taste with a bowl of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with Biscoff biscuits and Biscoff spread - which would take about one minute to make, in comparison to over two hours.
But overall, I am happy I gave making the Biscoff ice cream balls a go as it was fun to do and was a lovely sweet treat.
