I made the air fryer 'Nutella Lava Cake' using five ingredients

After seeing the viral ‘Nutella Lava Cake’ pop up on my TikTok several times, I couldn’t wait any longer to try and make it myself.

With it being ‘World Baking Day’ tomorrow, what better time than now to try and make a recipe that has been making my mouth water every time I see it on social media? Whenever I am out for a meal, I am the type of person who orders a dessert rather than a starter.

Melt-in-the-middle chocolate desserts are up there in my top five desserts, with crème brulee's being number one but I don’t think I will be attempting to make those any time soon.

The recipe was shared on TikTok by @rachel.hornibrook who shares ‘Recipes, Holiday & Hotel Foodie Guides’. The video was captioned: “Nutella Lava Cake, just five ingredients and less than 10 minutes in an airfryer = dessert heaven.”

Rachel explains in the video as well as your airfryer, you will need nutella, an egg, flour, milk and chocolate chips. This dessert can also be made in the oven but cooking in an air fryer just seems more fun. Sad I know.

How to:

Firstly, add an egg to the Nutella and mix until smooth. Then add the flour and milk and again mix together.

Pour the mixture into a greased mini ramekin and now for the next bit, add even more Nutella. I added more Nutella than what the recipe said because you can never, ever have too much Nutella.

To finish, sprinkle chocolate chips and pop the dish into the air fryer for 8 minutes. If you’re impatient like me, I kept opening the air fryer every two minutes to see how it was getting on.

The verdict:

From the first look, I couldn't make up my mind if the dessert was fully cooked or if it was the ridiculous amount of Nutella that I had put in. The dessert was very gooey but as a personal preference, that’s what I was hoping for.

If you were to want it more ‘cake-like’, then I would say to cook it for another five minutes in the air fryer. The dessert was just as a TikTok comment described it: “Just tried it and best quick dessert ever”.

Even though I had to go for a lie down after eating the Nutella Lava Cake, my sweet tooth definitely enjoyed it and I would make this again.
