Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed how Carlo Ancelotti was left 'running' from Everton after discovering the potential of a return to Spain.
Ancelotti left the Blues in June of last year to take the reins at the Bernabeu, taking on a managerial opportunity with Los Blancos for the second time in his career. The Italian was previously in charge of Madrid between 2013 and 2015 and claimed four major trophies.
Success has again been delivered during his current spell at the helm, having already claimed two trophies during the current campaign. Ancelotti helped the team to the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga title in January and to a 35th La Liga title on Saturday afternoon after beating Espanyol 4-0.

In doing so, the 62-year-old became the first manager to be crowned a domestic champion in Europe's top five leagues and has proven to be a successful appointment for the Spanish giants. Perez certainly stands by his appointment of Ancelotti and has described how the ex-Everton boss was ready to jump at this opportunity after learning of the interest.
"Maybe [Ancelotti didn't expect the job offer]. As soon as we called him he said 'I'm running', that's what he said," the Madrid president told Movistar via Marca.
"He has a lot of experience in coaching squads and there is always someone who criticises something. But his identification with Real Madrid is great, with our values and with what we represent, and that is important in a coach.
"Talking to him in the last few days, he told me that he has coached many teams and he says that the difference is that at Real Madrid the players are fans of the club, and that is a plus."
