Choosing a baby name is a difficult task and it's even harder for parents expecting twins or triplets. Many couples opt for a theme for their children's names, in the same way the Kardashians all start with the letter 'K' and Jamie Oliver's brood have two middle names inspired by nature.
One pregnant mum has been mocked online for deciding on a Christmas theme for her expectant triplets. She is due to give birth just days before December 25 and felt inspired to name the kids after the season. Writing in a Facebook parenting group, she said: "What would you name triplets (unknown genders) being born a week before Christmas?"
She listed Snow, Jolly, Beau, Miracle and Tag as her favourites and emphasised that Blu and Winter are big contenders.
The mum-to-be's post was then shared on Reddit, where users made fun of her theme and suggested she name the babies after Father Christmas' helpers.
"Dancer, Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, Cupid, Comet… or Rudolph!" someone said, while another put: "Justice for Donner and Blitzen!"
Though one user commented: "Rudolph's a legit name though, nickname Rudy."
"None of the above, for the love of God please none of the above," one person said, and a second simply put: "TAG?!"
"I'm gonna name mine Gift Receipt. It only makes sense!" a third mocked.
"Regift. Ornament. Sleigh," one Redditor joked, while another commented: "I'm surprised Bauble didn't make the list."
While plenty criticised the name idea, others were keen on the festive theme and many people shared their love for the names Beau and Blu.
"I think Winter is ok - I mean Summer and Autumn are real names so Winter isn't too crazy. If I had to pick a third from the list I'd probably go with Blu— since it's Beyoncé's kid's name it wouldn't be wholly unfamiliar," one Redditor put.
Another said: "I was born in December, and my mum really wanted my middle name to be Noel. My dad hates 'seasonal names' so it didn't happen, but I think it's cute.
"I used to work with a woman named Holly, and it was a 'Christmas name'. In December, she would add a tiny holly berry illustration to the end of her email signature, which was really cute."
Though one person added: "I wish people would remember that babies grow into adults."
