While it's not unusual to speak to someone online before meeting them in person, most people set up an in-person date soon after swiping right. But one hopeful romantic has revealed how she fell deeply in love with her prison pen pal, despite having never met him in real life.
Taking to the confessions subreddit on Reddit, the woman explained how she spent months sending letter back and forth to her locked-up lover before deciding he was the one. She said: "My best friend has a friend in prison and told me that he wanted someone to write to while locked up. I'm not sure why I wrote him - maybe because I'm lonely. Last June, I wrote him my first letter telling him who I was and that our mutual friend mentioned I should write. We've been steadily writing each other letters since - a letter every week or so."
