Raheem Sterling has confirmed that he will leave Manchester City after seven trophy-laden years at the club. Sterling was widely reported to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea last week, and in the last few days City and their London counterparts have agreed a deal worth £47.5m.
On Wednesday afternoon he published a letter on his social media channels, announcing his departure and thanking those who have helped him be a success at the club.
"My respect for you couldn't be greater," Sterling said of his coaches, teammates, backroom staff, supporters and everyone involved at City. "I arrived in Manchester a 20-year-old. Today I leave as a man. Thank you for your endless support. It's been an honour to wear the shirt of Manchester City."
