I'm a shopping journalist – these are the only Christmas gifts worth buying on Black Friday

Christmas can be an expensive time of year, but if you're a savvy shopper, you can take the stress out of presents. Black Friday deals mean you can save on gifts and have Christmas sorted before Santa's name is even mentioned.

Our team of experts have tested a range of products throughout the year, from luxurious bedding to portable blenders and trending air fryers.

We've put our heads together to curate a list of the best Black Friday deals the internet has to offer. If you're stuck for presents and need a helping hand from the experts, you're in the right place.

Whether your budget is $500 or $50, there are plenty of good deals that will make sure you're on their nice — and not naughty — list this year.

Gifts for bakers

Budding bakers are some of the easiest people to buy for. Black Friday is the best time to treat them to something special, because there are lots of luxury products that are hard to justify buying. A stand mixer is the kind of gift that they'll use — and thank you for — all the time. Equally, some new mixing bowls or baking dishes will feel like a true treat.

Gifts for cooking

There are endless gadgets that you can pick up for chefs who love spending time in the kitchen. However, over the years, I've found that most of these become clutter. It's better to invest in premium basics — ensuring that they're using quality every day — rather than fill their drawers with pointless plastic.

Gifts for the health-conscious

There's no better time to get ahead of the January health-kicks than Black Friday. Whether that means investing in a SodaStream, air fryer, or juicer, the discounts are big and my excitement is even bigger. Funnily enough, this section looks a lot like my wish list.

Gifts for the dining room

The perfect gifts for party hosts don't have to be excessive. Whether they're plates or glasses, these are easy to pair with some luxury food gifts. A cheeseboard with some aged cheeses or wine glasses with a good vintage would be welcome under any Christmas tree.

Gifts for coffee drinkers

Almost everyone knows a keen coffee drinker and they're incredibly easy to buy for. There are plenty of coffee accessories which can make a real difference to their everyday drinks. As a former barista, I always keep a special eye on these deals and here are my favorites.

Gifts for the bedroom

Investing in rest really feels luxurious. I love these gifts because whoever you give cozy bedding to will feel the rewards on two levels: the most obvious is that it's nice to sleep in soft bedding, the more subtle is that they'll experience better sleep and therefore feel much better throughout the day.

Gifts for the whole home

Ranging from aesthetic to functional, you can't go wrong with these gifts which will be useful through the whole home. They'll help your loved ones make the most of their space, whether that's with some fresh flowers or a luxury vacuum.

Gifts for the garden

These are bigger gifts, probably reserved for your inner circle. Helping someone to enjoy their yard will pay off for you too, especially when Summer comes back around. If they're beyond your budget, it's worth seeing whether friends will collaborate to get a really special present this year.

Are Black Friday sales any good?

This is the biggest sales period of the year. You won't find many better deals, especially not this close to Christmas.
