I’m a Shopping Expert: 5 Kirkland Items You Should Buy This Winter

Are you a Costco shopper? Then you probably already know that Costco has some of the best deals on everyday home goods and foods. And its signature brand, Kirkland, offers some of the highest-quality products in the giant retailer’s stock. This winter, there are lots of great picks from Kirkland that can last you all season long and, in some cases, even be used for future winters down the road. It takes an expert in shopping to know how to select the best of the best

GOBankingRates checked in with some shopping experts to learn about some of the top items from Costco’s signature brand that shoppers should spend their money on this winter. Here are the five Kirkland items that they shared.

Costco

Wool-Blend Socks

  • Price: $16.99

Costco’s Kirkland Signature women’s extra-fine merino wool-blend crew sock is the top pick from Melanie Musson, a retail finance expert with Quote.com.

“These socks come in a four-pack for $16.99,” Musson explained. “If you want to find a good quality pair of wool socks, you’d usually expect to pay $16.99 for one pair, so it’s a crazy good deal to get four pairs for that same price.”

Costco

Jeans

  • Price: $16.99 to $19.99

Kirkland Signature jeans are a smart winter buy for Costco shoppers, according to Melissa Cid, consumer savings expert for MySavings.com.

“They’re made from heavyweight denim that offers durability and cold-weather comfort you’d expect from brands like Levi’s, but for under $20,” Cid described. “You’ll get a classic, timeless style that works year after year, without paying the name brand markup.”

As an example, consider these men’s stretch jeans for under $20. They’re heavyweight and have a reinforced hem, so you know they’ll last.

Costco

Tissues

  • Price: $19.99

Musson found that Costco shoppers can get 12 84-count packs of Kirkland Signature facial tissue for $19.99.

“The quality is comparable to name-brand tissues, but they cost about half as much,” Musson pointed out, adding that with the winter cold and flu season here, you want to be ready to stop germs and runny noses in their path.

Costco

Quart Freezer Bags

  • Price: $14.99

The Kirkland Signature freezer quart bags are only $14.99 for 264 bags at Costco, which, in Musson’s professional opinion, is a great deal

“Winter is soup season, and it’s easy to make a double batch and then freeze half using freezer bags,” Musson said. “Then, you’ll have a quick meal that you just have to heat up sometime later this winter.”

Costco

Gift Wrap

  • Price: $29.97

The Kirkland Signature double-sided everyday gift wrap at Costco is under $30 for six rolls. Musson highlighted that while it may seem expensive, it’s actually a terrific deal.

“It’s high-quality paper, and you can use it for holiday gift wrapping and also gift wrapping throughout the year,” Musson said. “Once you use good wrapping paper, it’s hard to go back to the low-quality paper that rips and doesn’t fold nicely.”

Editor’s note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
