I’m a fitness writer and this Apple Watch post-Black Friday deal is still worth it

I'm a fitness writer and these are the best Apple Watch deals I could find after Black Friday - (The Independent)

Cyber Monday has come to a close and, while it's now just a regular week, the Apple Watch deals are still looking pretty enticing post-Black Friday.

As The Independent's senior fitness writer, I've been hands-on with hundreds of fitness wearables – but the Apple Watch is one I come back to time and again. Granted, it doesn't come cheap, but you might be surprised by the savings you find as the Black Friday reductions wind down.

In the wake of the sales chaos, there are still reductions of more than £100 on some of the best Apple Watch models, such as the Series 10. Or, if you're looking to spend a little less – and won't find use for extra features like ECG and blood monitoring – the SE iteration might prove a better, more budget-friendly option.

Below, I've rounded up the best Apple Watch discounts that are still running as Christmas approaches. We can't say how long they'll last now that there's no official deadline to abide by, so I wouldn't hesitate to head to the checkout if you find something of interest.

Best Apple Watch deals you can still shop post-Black Friday

  • Best Apple Watch Black Friday deal – Apple Watch series 10 42mm: Was £319, now £269, Very.co.uk
  • Best Apple Watch ultra deal – Apple Watch ultra 3: Was £749, now £719, Amazon.co.uk
  • Best new Apple Watch Black Friday deal: Apple Watch SE 3 40mm: Was £219, now £199, Amazon.co.uk

Apple Watch series 10 42mm: Was £319, now £269, Very.co.uk

(Very)

With the release of the Apple Watch series 11 this year, discounts on its predecessor were predictable, and this one gets my vote. On test, our tech critic David Phelan was left impressed by the Apple Watch 10’s fast processor, large display and sleek design, alongside the wealth of health and fitness tracking features on offer.

“The features that have defined the Apple Watch, from subtle notifications, brilliant mapping capabilities on your wrist and above all, great health features, are all at their best here,” wrote David.

The 18-hour battery life is a bit of a drawback, but this is mitigated by its fast charging capabilities that allow you to fill up the tank in less than an hour.

Apple Watch SE 2: Was £199, now £169, Currys.co.uk

(Amazon)

Being able to buy a new Apple Watch for less than £170 is a rarity. It may be a generation behind Apple’s current crop, but the SE 2 is still a top smartwatch with an impressive stable of nifty features.

“The Apple Watch SE is best for those on a budget,” our Apple expert Dave Phelan writes in his Apple Watch SE 2 review. “It’s the smallest and lightest Apple Watch you can buy. It’s also the cheapest in Apple’s range.”

It lacks the ECG and blood oxygen capabilities of the ultra 3 and series 11, but still includes enough apps and health tracking features to cater to all but the most metric-minded wearers.

Apple Watch ultra 3: Was £749, now £719, Amazon.co.uk

(Apple)

The ultra 3 is the cream of the crop in the Apple Watch world. Released this year, it adds hypertension (high blood pressure) notifications and a sleep score to the wearable’s already extensive suite of features.

“The ruggedised Ultra 3 has a lot of Apple Watch superlatives: biggest display, chunkiest watch, longest battery life,” writes our tech expert Dave Phelan in his review. “It has better GPS for more exact run tracking, and a new, exclusive feature: SOS emergency messaging via satellite when you’re in the back of beyond.”

Battery life, my biggest bugbear with its predecessor, has been upped from 36 hours to 42 hours. The watch is currently reduced by £30 on Amazon. Not an amazing saving, granted, but still a welcome discount on a recent release if you were planning to buy one anyway.

Apple Watch SE 3 40mm: Was £219, now £199, Amazon.co.uk

(Apple)

For the first time since 2022, Apple released three new smartwatches this year. The SE 3 is the cheapest of the bunch, and despite only being months old it has already been discounted – you can grab one for less than £200 during the Black Friday weekend.

The slimline design may suit those with smaller wrists better than the rugged ultra, and the SE 3 outperforms its more modest price tag with an impressive roster of features.

In his review, Dave Phelan writes: “The faster processor enables health features like the Vitals app as well as sleep tracking, sleep apnoea notifications, sleep score and heart rate. All of which makes the Apple Watch SE 3 a reassuring timepiece.“

Apple Watch Series 11: Was £369, now £349, Argos.co.uk

(David Phelan/The Independent)

Part of the latest wearable release, the Apple Watch series 11 is reduced at a range of retailers including Argos. The Independent’s tech critic David Phelan was left impressed by its gorgeous design, hypertension feature and longer battery life.

Overall, he said “the slender, slick Series 11 is the best-looking option” over the Ultra 3 and SE3, noting the Titanium finish has an opulent look.

Why you can trust IndyBest to bring you the best Apple Watch deals

The IndyBest team and I test a wealth of products across fitness, fashion, tech, beauty and more. We’ll only recommend those that earn our seal of approval.

You can usually find an Apple Watch on my wrist, so I’m always on the lookout for deals on the latest models. This means when sales events like Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday roll around (and come to a close), I can sniff out a great deal – and keep you informed on any 'before' prices that have suspiciously hiked up in the aftermath of the sales.

How I selected the best Apple Watch post-Black Friday deals

As a fitness writer, I keep tabs on the prices of the tech that I recommend. I never want anyone to be spending over the odds (I always try and find the cheapest possible ways to better your health – a case in point is my feature on the cheapest way to improve your fitness). Not only do I keep track of the prices year-round on my favourite Apple Watch models, but I also use price comparison tools to make sure that the discounted prices are as good as they seem. I always make sure to look out for when an Apple Watch has been reduced to its lowest-ever price.
