I'm A Celebrity: When serving MP Nadine Dorries ate anus live on TV

Former Health Sectary Matt Hancock has recently been suspended from the Conservative party for entering the jungle on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here but he is not the first MP to brave the jungle. In 2012 Nadine Dorries, who has been MP for MidBedfordshire since 2005, flew Down Under to face the grim trials.

Nadine was also suspended from the Conservative Party when she entered the jungle and she was the first contestant voted out of the series. Her time in the jungle saw her take on different bushtucker trials, including eating an ostrich anus.

Alongside actress Helen Flanagan, Nadine had to eat some disgusting things as part of the trial, which as always, won meal stars for the camp. One of the worst delicacies was ostrich anus, or 'Hot Cross Bum' which Nadine managed with little fuss. Saying "You are not for real" Nadine held Helen's hand and talked her through eating the meat, by describing a nicer scene for her. "You're lying on a beach with a pina colada next to you.."

While chewing the meat Nadine got up from her seat and walked around before being able to swallow the anus. She showed hosts Ant and Dec her empty mouth before grabbing her water bottle.

After I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! Nadine sat as an independent MP and re-joined the Conservative whip in 2013. Since then Nadine supported the leave campaign during Brexit, became Minister for Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Patient Safety from 2020 to 2021 and was the secretary of state for digital, culture, media and sport until Liz Truss became Prime Minister in 2022.

Matt Hancock will be facing Royal family member Mike Tindall, who you can read more about here, England international football player Jill Scott, radio presenter Chris Moyles, singing sensation Boy George and Loose Women presenter Charlene White in the jungle.
