I'm a Celebrity viewers point out 'unfair' problem with Matt Hancock and Boy George eating trial

I'm a Celebrity fans say they noticed an 'unfair' trend when Boy George went head-to-head with Matt Hancock in an eating trial. Presenting duo Dec Donnelly and Ant McPartlin revealed at the end of Thursday night's show (November 10) that the former health secretary, 44, and pop icon Boy George would take on the first eating challenge of this series together.

The pair ate a variation of gruesome grub at La Cucaracha Cafe, meaning the Cockroach cafe in Spanish. Despite this being Boy George's first trial, viewers are used to seeing the West Suffolk MP on their screens by now as this was the third trial since his arrival in the Australian jungle on Wednesday night (November 9).

There had been some awkward scenes around camp since Hancock's arrival as Boy George revealed that if his mum had died during the pandemic, he would have quit the show. "You know, beginning of the pandemic my mum was in hospital. I wasn’t allowed to see her. I thought she was going to die," the 80s star said, as he later told the Telegraph: "I don't know what to do with my feelings. I don't know whether I want to be here."

Despite the tension in the air, Boy George would need to put his feelings about Matt aside as they were taking on the eating trial together. At La Cucaracha Cafe on Friday night (November 11), the pair took it in turns to stomach the various sickening dishes that were put in front of them and ended up winning the maximum 11 stars.

But whilst Matt took on everything from fish eyes and cockroaches to a cow's anus, Boy George appeared to take on the 'easier' options such as rotten egg and fermented tofu - which didn't go down well with viewers at home.

Taking to Twitter, @gizmo9189 tweeted: "Very disappointed. It's so obvious that matt was given the worst stuff by far than boy George. Why was george getting fermented eggs, beans, fruit... And matt getting every body part from an animal. At least make the game fair.

@JaneCalladine1 asked: "Why is Matt getting worse dishes than boy George? Why are Matts always some sort of animal whereas George is fermented veg? Not fair."

@kelbo_baggins_ said: "Really unfairly distribution of task on i’m a celebrity. Boy George’s getting the easy ride here." But some viewers picked up on the fact that Boy George is in fact a vegetarian as has been very vocal about it in the past.

Others then complained that, because of this, he shouldn't have been voted to do the trial as it was 'unfair'. @maysen_casey wrote: "I actually think it’s unfair that George is vegetarian and is doing the eating challenge like everyone could eat rotten veggies over rotten animals."

@stephen_1989 said: "#imaceleb not sure what the point in boy George doing the challenge is.. he’s getting all the easy ones." @mazzimazzo agreed: "I just think if you are vegetarian or vegan you should just be exempt from eating challenges. I think do it properly or not at all. There’s other people we can vote to eat some balls. I’m not tuning in to watch someone eat fermented beans??"
