I'm A Celebrity viewers complain within minutes of show starting

Just minutes after Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly opened the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here viewers were complaining on Twitter. They were unhappy about some of the celebrities they were being introduced to in the first episode.

Viewers saw the first 10 stars set to enter the jungle, and while some are very famous, there were others that people at home didn't recognise. The initial 10 campmates were Boy George, Sue Cleaver, Owen Warner, Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Babatúndé Aléshé and Olivia Attwood.

Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock is due to arrive in the Australian jungle at a later date, The Mirror reports. The programme is back in its 'spiritual home' Down Under this year after spending two years in Wales due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Shortly after the new season began, frustrated viewers took to Twitter to vent their annoyance, complaining about the celebrities on their screens. @XherdanJackiri said: "Celebrity is an incredibly generous term for half of those in the jungle #ImACeleb."

@zayneswrld questioned: " So why is Mo's friend on here if he's not a celebrity? #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity #Imaceleb2022." And @kazzwoody joked: "#ImACeleb sorry but I've not a clue. I'm getting nervous for Chris Moyles having to pretend he knows who these people are!"

Ant and Dec appeared thrilled to be back in Australia after their two years in Wales. Last year the show was cancelled briefly when storms hit the camp and damaged some of the production site, with the celebrities moved out of the camp for a while for the first time in history.

The presenting duo have shared their excitement at being back in Australia, with Ant saying recently: " The plan is, we're going back to Australia, we don't want to go elsewhere. It's got to go back to it. Back to its spiritual home, back to where it all started. Everyone wants to see a bit of sunshine at that time of year on the telly."

Dec added: " We had two lovely years in Wales, we really enjoyed our time in Wales, but this show has to be in Australia, we have to go back."

One of the biggest stars of this year's show is Boy George, who recently revealed that it was Ant and Dec themselves who persuaded him to do it. He said: " It actually took a while because I talked about it with my manager, and then we stopped talking about it and I said 'oh I'm not doing it'. And then I spoke to Ant and Dec, and they just encouraged me you know, as they do."

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! began last night (Nov 6). The next episode will air this evening at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
