I'm A Celebrity star Seann Walsh opens up on Strictly cheating scandal

Seann Walsh has opened up to his fellow campmates about his infamous kiss with Katya Jones during his Strictly Come Dancing stint.

As well as his award-winning comedy shows, Seann’s best known for taking part in the BBC ballroom dancing series in 2018, where he ended up sharing a kiss with then-married professional dance partner Katya. Speaking with Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver, Seann, 36, admits the incident was the 'worst moment of his life'.

Seann and Katya were photographed kissing in the street outside a pub, which made headlines across the UK as they were both in relationships with separate people. Katya was married at the time to fellow professional dancer Neil Jones, while Seann was in a relationship with then-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries. They have both split since then.

Seann spoke about news surrounding him on Strictly and said: “Me and my dance partner, who was married, I was in a relationship, we were photographed kissing when we were on Strictly Come Dancing… that was the front page of every newspaper.”

Sue asked: “Why did that crucify you? Why did that have such an impact?” Seann responded: “To be totally honest with you, my poor ex, my girlfriend at the time, posted a statement. My girlfriend [at the time] posted a statement and that was the end of me.”

He added: “I said sorry. I sat on Jonathan Ross’s TV show and apologised. I sat next to will.i.am and Samuel L. Jackson and apologised. That will forever be the weirdest moment of my life and I have to say probably the worst moment of my life.”

In the Bush Telegraph Seann said: “That’s something in my life that I don’t want to go back to. Obviously I knew it would come up. They come up so naturally here.

"I just want to move on. It’s really nice to have people that will listen and are so lovely and wonderful.

"I just want to be clear in that I’m very sorry about what happened and I really want this to be a positive experience and it really has been. I want to come out of here and move forward.”

While the scandal clearly had an impact on the comedian, Sue, 59, did not judge him for the past and said in a confessional: “He’s a lovely lad. He’s a sensitive soul, very sensitive soul.

"He’s been through the ringer the last three years. I think he’s really brave and I’m glad he’s here.”

During Wednesday’s episode of the hit ITV show, hosts Ant and Dec couldn't resist taking a cheeky dig at Seann and the kiss while he undertook his first Bushtucker Trial alongside Matt Hancock, who has already frustrated some of the campmates.

"We all know what happened the last time Seann was paired up with someone on a reality show,” Ant said. To which Dec replied: "Let's hope he doesn't try and get off with Matt Hancock.”

This prompted Ant to pretend to be annoyed by his friend, grabbing him by the jacket and waggling a finger in his face as he added: "Never, never say the words, get off with Matt Hancock... I can't even say the words, I don't like saying the words. I don't like them in my mouth."

"You don't like the Hancock in your mouth?" Dec cheekily responded.
