I'm A Celebrity... South Africa: Janice Dickinson's modeling career, bust-up with Carol Vorderman and why she leaves show early

Janice Dickinson has joined the I'm A Celebrity spin-off after appearing in the 2007 series in which she broke the record for the number of trials at the time. But the outspoken contestant, who did 10 Bushtucker Trials in a row, was reportedly forced to leave the pre-recorded new series early.

The new series, which starts on Monday, April 24 on ITV and was recorded last year at Kruger National Park, sees the 68-year-old in camp with Carol Vorderman, Jordon Banjo, Amir Khan, Phil Tufnell and more - read about the first group of celebrities announced, here.

Back in 2007, Janice was runner-up behind winner Christopher Biggins. Ahead of filming the South Africa version, Janice said: "I'd love to see Biggins again, we had a laugh and got along in camp." But it wasn't to be as she had to exit the show following an accident.

Why did she exit the South Africa series early?

Janice reportedly fell and injured her head before being taken to hospital, which meant her South Africa experience came to an early end. "Everything went on our show, believe me. There were ups, there were downs. There was lots of laughter and lots of tears," she said.

Talking about her time in the show she added: “You never know what's going to pop out of the bushes. I mean I was always on guard in case a lion was going to come bounding in. You never know because it's Lions Country out there.

“There's so many experiences I learned living in the bush and especially about getting through the night because some birds were landing by my cot. I think they were vultures - huge black birds - going, "Caw!" always just in right by my ear.

“I was scared that they were going to peck my eyes out or something. I was sleeping under my sleeping bag with the zipper all the way, zipped up to my head feeling that something's going to crawl into my bed at night. “It's really quite scary. “

The world's first supermodel

Janice was a successful model in the 1970s and 1980s and self-describes as 'the world's first supermodel', working with Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta and Versace. She graced the covers of many magazines and was also a catwalk model.

After retiring she was a judge in four seasons of America's Next Top Model she also hadher own television series titled The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.

I'm a Celebrity feud with Carol Vorderman

Carol first hinted at a cool relationship between the pair at the end of March while on Lorraine, gushing about her campmates. The TV presenter said at the time "Janice Dickinson, we’ll not talk about her so much," after calling Helen Flanagan her "little meerkat" who she had "fallen in love with" and said she was dancer Jordan Banjo's "jungle mum" after the pair formed a close bond when they starred in the 2016 series of the show.

Since then it's been reported that the pair clashed over........... the Royal Family. An insider told the Mirror: “It was a really explosive bust-up… Janice was effing and blinding."

The row began over the Royal Family because Janice believes it needs to be abolished, while Carol is a staunch supporter of the monarchy. The source explained: “Janice can be quite abrasive and things got very heated. She said Carol’s views were old-fashioned and dated while Carol hit back that Janice was crass and obnoxious. She and Carol are both strong women with strong opinions. It was a personality clash that was bound to explode.”
