I'm A Celebrity 'signs up England football icon' ahead of return to Australian jungle

There could be a Lioness heading to the Australian outback with Jill Scott reportedly all signed up for the new series of I'm A Celebrity.

The midfielder, 35, retired from playing this summer after helping England to Uefa Women's final glory.

She starred as the team beat Germany 2-1 in July, celebrating hard after football came home in front of 90,000 fans.

Jill left millions in stitches after blowing up social media following a foul-mouthed on-pitch outburst at Wembley - but bosses see her as the perfect fit.

With the girls' game growing and growing, ITV execs see it as the perfect moment to have a champion in the camp.

The hit programme is gearing up to return in November and will be back in the Australian jungle after two years away.

MirrorOnline have approached ITV for comment.

It comes after Mike Tindall looks set to be the show's very first royal family member after signing up.

Another rumoured contestant Seann Walsh, best known for Strictly's notorious kissgate scandal in 2018.

"Jill became an instant star following that memorable moment, with most Brits forgiving the minor outburst," a telly source told The Sun.

"It was always rumoured that ITV wanted one of the team in the jungle and Jill is a natural choice."

Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver is set to join this year's line up of I'm A Celebrity, it has been also been reported.

The actress, 59, who is known for her role as no-nonsense Eileen Grimshaw on the soap, could also be heading Down Under.

She would huge list of cobbles icons who have appeared on the show over the years - including Andy Whyment, who is set to star on the all-stars version in South Africa. Simon Gregson - who plays Steve McDonald - made it to the final on last year's show.

Fans and presenters alike will be delighted that the show is back to its origins, with celebs sleeping among dangerous creepie-crawlies and braving their fears in the jungle.

In an action-packed trailer ahead of the series, Ant and Dec are seen flying in a helicopter as Ant throws their luggage out.

"Where's the luggage going?" Dec asks.

"It's meeting us there," Ant replies, to which Dec says: "Where?"

The duo then proceed to jump out of the helicopter, courtesy of come CGI magic.

Ant is the first to make his exit, throwing their contract at Dec as he quips: "Remember, where I have to go, you have to go!"

"Oh I wish I'd never signed that thing," Dec complained before making the jump before they both eventually pulled their parachutes, announcing: "We're back!"
