Ant and Dec took aim at people from Sunderland with a brutal jibe on Sunday's I'm A Celebrity, that many viewers had predicted was coming since the new series started last week.
Prior to going into the jungle, Sunderland born footballer and England Lionesses hero Jill Scott admitted she wasn't sure how the two presenters would react to her being on I'm A Celebrity given that she's a Mackem and they are Geordies and die hard Newcastle United fans. While it was always on the cards, it took Ant and Dec a week to get a dig in, with their scathing gag coming after Jill opened up on the torment she faced as a young football player.
After Jill had opened up to her campmates on the highs and lows of her career, the camera cut back to Ant and Dec, with Dec reacting: "I love Jill. Isn't she lovely? Especially for someone from Sunderland," as he and his co-host chuckled on set.

And it didn't take long for Twitter to erupt at the comment, with one Geordie viewer tweeting: "Jill Scott ripped me for being a Geordie last time I saw her. Ant and Dec need to keep this Sunderland banter going." Another reacted: "I knew ant and dec would make a joke about Jill being from Sunderland rude but funny."
Many other Geordies lapped up the remark, with another writing: "I was actually waiting when Ant and Dec would mention the fact that Jill is from Sunderland haha." However, another I'm A Celebrity reminded the lads that they'd once done pantomime in Sunderland, messaging them directly to say: "Yes the lovely Jill is just from @Sunderland but I can remember you were both in pantomime at the @Sunderland Empire. It was fantastic, but nevertheless, was in Sunderland!"
