I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!: Former ref Mike Dean bookies' favourite to enter jungle

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has become the bookies' favourite to enter this year's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. It comes after the 54-year-old officiated his final top flight game as Chelsea beat Watford 2-1 on May 22.

Mr Dean was originally due to be an outsider to appear on the programme but his chances appear to have increased after calling it quits on his top-flight officiating career. According to OLBG, he is 4/5 to go onto the gameshow.

And if the bookies are to be believed, he won't be the only famous face from the footballing world, as Michael Owen is tipped to appear on the show. The former Liverpool, Manchester United, and England striker is currently watching on as daughter Gemma appears in the latest series of Love Island.

But it appears the 42-year-old could be following suit and appearing on one of the winter's most popular reality TV show. The pundit has been ranked as a 9/1 odds for going into the jungle.

Elsewhere, former pundit and television presenter Chris Kamara is also being tipped to appear in I'm a Celeb. He is currently being given 15/8 odds after quitting his role on Sky Sports to present a BBC podcast later in the year.

OLBG said: "Kamara has announced a new podcast that will start on the BBC later this year, alongside presenter Ben Shephard. The former footballer might well add a stint in the jungle to the list of his next ventures going forward."

Others who could be considered for the 2022 I'm a Celebrity include Piers Morgan and Peter Kay, both 50/1 outsiders. Alongside former Footballers' Wives star Laila Rouass.

It currently remains unclear whether I'm a Celebrity will return to its traditional home of Australia this year, or return to Wales. The show had moved to Gwrych Castle during the Covid pandemic, and the owners earlier this year applied to keep the camp for a third year.

ITV's Director of Content Rosemary Newe told the Mirror: "We expect I'm a Celebrity to return in Australia in November."
