I'm a Celebrity first look photos as stars meet before the jungle and take on terrifying challenges

Celeb worlds collided as Corrie favourite Sue Cleaver met eighties icon Boy George ahead of their stretch in the jungle together. As viewers prepare to get stuck into a new series of I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! first-look photos give an insight into the stars being introduced before setting foot into the famous ITV camp.

This year the popular reality show, hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, has returned to Australia after two years at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, Wales because of Covid-19 restrictions. The 2021 series was won by former Emmerdale actor Danny Miller.

This year soap star Sue, who plays Coronation Street's Eileen Grimshaw, will run the gauntlet in the jungle after her character suffered unthinkable horror at the hands of her serial killer husband Pat Phelan in the ITV soap. Sue, who has played Eileen since 2000, looked delighted as she and popstar George toasted their arrival.

The famous singer, whose hits include Karma Chameleon, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Time (Clock of the Heart) was unmissable in brightly patterned coords while Sue looked a world away from Weatherfield in a glam animal print jumpsuit. They were joined by A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas who looks holiday-ready in a zesty lime green all-in-one.

Hollyoaks hunk Owen Warner beamed as he stepped out to meet his new campmates in an unbuttoned patterned shirt with smart black trousers, and rugby player royal Mike Tindall, who is married to the late Queen's granddaughter Zara, looked set for the beach in a patterned shirt and pink shorts.

The cast were seen sharing laughs together as they got acquainted before the first dreaded challenges got underway. Before making their way into the jungle this year's batch of celebs, which also include comedian Babatunde Aleshe, Loose Women star Charlene White, DJ Chris Moyles, England Lioness Jill Scott MBE and Love Island star Olvia Attwood, will be seen taking on the infamous helicopter jump and walk the plank trials.

Leaving their plush pads and comforts far behind, the celebrity campers will spend up to three weeks taking on the harsh surroundings of the Australian bush, with a whole host of surprises created just for them. One group of celebrities arrived by luxury car to a stunning waterside villa in the sun-drenched Gold Coast and Chris, Olivia, Charlene, Babatúndé and Jill nervously waited for their jungle journey to begin.

Meanwhile meeting at a glistening marina Boy George, Mike, Sue, Scarlette and Owen deliberated what could possibly be happening next. After the arrival of hosts Ant and Dec at each location, the celebrities learned that the public have been voting to name Jungle VIPs and who they want to see have the toughest journey into camp and face the first trial.

Babatúndé, Jill and Charlene travelled to the iconic Focus building in Australia's Surfers Paradise for the infamous plank challenge - with a difference. Now back with a terrifying makeover as ‘The Ledge’, the campmates must walk to the edge of the plank and once all in position, take a step forward onto the ledge so they are leaning forward and facing down the jaw-dropping 334 foot drop to the ground.

Here they have to hold the position for one full minute. At the end of the 60 seconds they must let go of the rope that supports them and plunge from their perch in order to each win a coveted star.

Elsewhere, Olivia and Chris faced the ultimate of entrances - the skydive. Olivia jumped first and it was up to Chris to follow suit. Meanwhile, the rest of the campmates - Mike, Sue and Owen - faced a boat trip like no other into camp.

In the trial three stars are locked onto the mast of a boat, dubbed the Critter Cruise. Each celebrity must undertake a challenge to unlock one each.
