I'm A Celebrity fans left cringing as Owen Warner asks Boy George his name

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here fans were left cringing - as Owen Warner asked Boy George what his name was.

The Karma Chameleon singer is being paid a record amount to enter the Australian jungle this year, and five of the celebrities all met together for the first time, fans were left cringing when Hollyoaks actor Owen questioned George. Other stars have joined the show including Sue Cleaver , Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Babatúndé Aléshé and Olivia Attwood.

The celebrities have no idea who is heading into the jungle with them - but most of them do recognise one another as they're all famous faces from TV, sport and other top industries.

Fans took to Twitter to joke over Owen's faux pax as he met the iconic Boy George for the first time.

"Nahhh Owen, respect Boy George's name please 'who are you' you know! #ImACeleb," one penned, whilst another added: "Obsessed with Owen asking Boy George what his name is. #ImACeleb."

A third shared: "Owen did not just ask boy george his name PLEASE #ImACeleb," with a fourth penning online: "Did Owen Warner just ask boy George his name???? #Imaceleb."

"Boy George knowing who the woman from A Place In The Sun was but Owen didn't, and Owen asking for his name," a fifth added.

Ahead of his arrival into the jungle, soap star Owen admitted to The Mirror he was sure not many people would know who he is. When asked what he thought the biggest misconception of him was, he shared: "It depends on what kind of perception they’ve got already. I think most people won’t have a clue who I am so hopefully they’ll be pleasantly surprised that I’m a nice geezer."

He says he is known as a player - but insists that is further from the truth.

"I think there's a few articles saying I'm a bit of a player and that sort of guy and, yeah, I’m quite the opposite. I’m just chill," he added.

Owen, though, insists he's more looking forward to a bromance - rather than any romance.

"My type is someone that matches my energy. Someone who's got a good bubbly personality and that I can have a laugh with. I’d be more happy with a bromance than a romance, to be honest," he shared.
