I'm A Celebrity: Carol Vorderman hits out at Matt Hancock as she mispronounces his name

Clifton's Carol Vorderman made a savage dig at Matt Hancock yesterday as she made her way into the ITV studios. The maths whizz appeared to hit out at the former health secretary ahead of his long-awaited jungle debut, which was televised last night.

Since the announcement was made last week that Hancock would be heading into camp, the British public and politicians have criticised the West Suffolk MP for his reality TV stint. Tory chief whip Simon Hart said that Hancock's decision was 'serious enough' to warrant suspension, as he was suspended as a Tory MP and now sits as an independent.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also condemned the former health secretary's decision, telling The Sun on Sunday: "MPs should be working hard for their constituents."

Plenty of jokes have been made at Hancock's expense following his resignation as health secretary last year after it was revealed that he'd had an affair with his aide, Gina Coladangelo, with his reality TV stint only making things worse for the MP. Yesterday, as Carol prepared to appear on This Morning, she uploaded a video to Instagram, poking fun at Hancock.

She said: "Well, I'm on my way into the studio again, into This Morning, to talk about I'm A Celebrity and Boy George, Apparently, I'll be on with Boy George's manager. Ooh!

"And to talk about the arrival of Seann Walsh and Matt, hmm, c**k," Carol said, humming where 'Han' should be in the MP's name. "Apparently, to say his name properly, the 'Han' is silent. Matt, hmm, c**k.

"Matt c**k. I think I've got it right."

Upon entering 'Mole Headquarters' last night, Hancock was greeted by comedian Seann Walsh, who struggled to contain his laughter as the politician walked in. The pair then had to endure their first Bushtucker Trial, 'The Beastly Burrows', which saw them enter a pitch black tunnel, filled with slime, gunk, and creepy crawlies, to collect 11 stars in 11 minutes.

Entering the main camp with just six stars, Hancock and Walsh met their fellow contestants, who could not seem to believe Hancock was really there. A number of stars could be seen making comments about the MP behind his back, with Boy George seeming particularly disgusted with Hancock's decision to enter the jungle, given the fact he nearly lost his mum during the pandemic, and was unable to see her whilst she was in hospital due to restrictions.
