Carol Vorderman praised I'm A Celebrity legend Myleene Klass - and told how they've known each other since the music star was a small child.
The 62-year-old TV icon isn’t too much older than presenter, radio host, singer and model Myleene - who herself is 45-year-old.
However, the pair have been friends for decades - and actually first met before Myleene found fame in Hear'Say, which was the product of ITV talent show Popstars in 2001.
The ladies both competed in the ‘All Stars’ style South Africa set I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! spin-off which concluded on Friday with Myleene scooping the crown.
After the final result was revealed, Carol said: "I've known Myleene forever. We met when I used to host the BBC science show Take Nobody's Word for It.
"There was a paper engineering competition and Myleene won one of the awards when she was about 8 years old. She made a Ferris wheel out of paper and it worked. We still love the photo of me presenting her with her BBC award. It's very cute.”
Carol went on to throw her support behind Myleene for her triumphant win - which saw her win over dancer Jordan Banjo and Olympian Fatima Whitbread.
Carol gushed: “She is great. And now she has won I'm A Celebrity South Africa, I really couldn't be more pleased for her."
Myleene was voted ‘Legend’ of the I’m A Celeb spin off - although there was no public vote over who the winner should be, and the series was filmed last summer.
Instead the winner was declared by the campmates and the trials themselves, with the stars having to compete for survival in the final episode.
Myleene burst into tears over her win, as she revealed she thought of her kids throughout the experience and couldn't believe she'd been crowned the champion.
But viewers watching at home were divided over the final due to the lack of public involvement.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Myleene is an absolute powerhouse, after that she deserved that win."
A second agreed: "Holy mother of God, Myleene so deserves the win," as a third added: "Personally I wanted to Jordan to win but Myleene deserved it after that."
Not everyone agreed though, with a viewer commenting: "Gutted for Jordan he should’ve won," as another said: "Really wanted Jordan to win. Gutted."
A third viewer tweeted: "Honestly Jordan and Myleene are the LEAST deserving finalists. Bring back the public vote!"
Myleene previously competed on I’m A Celeb back in 2006 when she was the runner up, losing out at the time to Busted star Matt Willis.
