I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have weighed in on the controversy surrounding Charlene White’s apparent rule breaking in camp.
The Loose Women star came under fire from fans this week when she continued to refuse to sleep in the RV alongside Matt Hancock, despite having the privilege of a proper bed as deputy camp leader.
Instead, the decision to sleep in the main camp left one less flat bed for her fellow campmates, forcing others to sleep on the hammocks.
Yet during Thursday night’s episode the star doubled down on her refusal to sleep in the RV due to an apparent fear of the spiders inside.
The apparent rule breaking was then amplified in the eyes of fans when Charlene then insisted on helping Scarlette Douglas prepare dinner in the camp, despite being exempt from duties at the deputy.
One ITV viewer took to T witter to ask ITV bosses about the lack of repercussions in camp, as they wrote: “In the past campmates have been penalised if they didn’t obey the rules, so why has Charlene been allowed to not stay in the RV?!”
Hosts Ant and Dec then re-tweeted the question and replied: “The rules said that only the leader and deputy are allowed to stay in the RV, it didn’t state they HAD to…”
However, I’m A Celebrity fans have been left calling for ITV bosses to take action in the wake of Thursday evening’s scenes.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “ITV something needs to be done about Charlene!!! Getting involved in cooking, not sleeping in the RV!! Ridiculous.”
Another added: “Charlene needs to be punished for not sleeping in the caravan and helping! C'mon now.”
“Remember when camp was punished for breaking rules. Never happens anymore,” another bemoaned.
Another added: “Punish Charlene, she's breaking the rules constantly do something about it please.”
This comes as I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is set to hold its first elimination of the 2022 series.
Bosses at the ITV reality show have confirmed the first eviction will take place at the end of this week, when one of the 11 campmates will be voted to leave the Australian jungle.
The Mirror earlier this week revealed that the first campmate could indeed be set to leave on Friday, as the show had been extended to 95 minutes.
This makes it the longest episode of the reality show since the series launched earlier this month, giving hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly ample time to chat to the first evictee of the series.
It has now been confirmed by ITV that Friday is indeed the first eviction night, ahead of which the public will be invited to vote for their favourite campmates.
