I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here fans were left distracted by a major shake-up as ITV aired the final part of the 2022 series in the Coming Out show.
Though all of the celebrity campmates have now departed the Australian jungle, fans of the ITV reality show were treated to one more episode.
The 2022 Coming Out Show followed each celebrity after they were voted out and returned to civilisation in an ITV1 special with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
The one-off ITV special combined the best highlights from the explosive 2022 series as well as interviews with the celebrities, including Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott.
Yet as the campmates left the jungle one by one, I’m A Celeb fans were surprised that they were not heading to the iconic Palazzo Versace Hotel, instead going to alternative accommodation on the Gold Coast.
Stars would famously stay at the five-star Versace hotel as they get to grips with the juggernaut series, which costs upwards from £250 a night for a room.
The celebs were treated to nights of luxury and relaxation after being eliminated in Oz, with Loose Women host Charlene White out first.
Yet for the first time in 18 years, the celebrities checked into a different resort leaving many viewers labelling the decision a ‘downgrade’.
Taking to Twitter, one said: “Bit of a downgrade on I’m A Celeb with this new hotel. Probably had to save some cash to pay Boy George and Matt Hancock.”
A second chimed: “The old hotel was elite,” as a third joked: “No versace hotel?? Damn cost of living crisis is real.”
“I’d be so fuming if I was put in a hotel that isn’t the Versace, it’s just iconic,” another tweeted.
Ahead of the series debut, a show inside said the change in accommodation was to ‘refresh’ the programme.
This comes after Ant and Dec declared I'm A Celebrity 2022 ‘the best series for years’ and admitted the inclusion of Matt Hancock was ‘interesting’.
Asked about the series, Ant said: "Yeah it was the best for years. Loved it. Absolutely loved it.
“A good winner in Jill, she is great isn't she? I think her or Owen, he would have really loved the win, but we were all really happy she won and would have been if it was vice versa.”
And Dec added: “They were a really great bunch. There was lots of laughs, I love George and Seann and Babatunde and I just thought there was a really lovely bunch this year.”
