In recent days, there has been endless controversy over the fact that former Health Secretary Mr Matt Hancock has signed up for the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!
Numerous famous faces including Loose Women star Denise Welch, Eamonn Holmes, and Piers Morgan have shared their distaste after learning that the controversial British politician will be entering the jungle in Australia to take part in the gruelling Bush Tuckers trials.
Mr Hancock will be joining celebrities including Love Island star Olivia Attwood, and TV presenter, Scarlette Douglas who previously made her opinions on Hancock crystal clear in a series of scathing tweets which have come to surface again.
During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, A Place In The Sun's Scarlette hit out at the West Suffolk MP over how the Tory's handled the unprecedented global crisis.
Scarlette's tweets came after Mr Hancock was caught having an affair with his closest aide, Gina Coladangelo, as the pair were filmed kissing on CCTV.
In June 2021, after his rule-breaking affair was exposed, the MP took to Twitter to share an apology video - but evidently, his apologies meant nothing to Scarlette who urged Hancock to 'get out' of government.
Within 15 minutes of the video being posted on social media, Scarlette tweeted 'good, get out of here'.
“He’ll be looking for a place in the sun now,” replied one fan, to which Scarlette wrote back: “As long as I’m not his presenter."
“Shouldn’t have been given the chance to resign - should have been sacked!” another Twitter user replied, to which Scarlette said: 'agree'.
No doubt that Scarlette will also be infuriated by rumours that Mr Hancock is reportedly set to receive one of the highest I’m a Celeb pay packets to date.
“Matt’s pay deal with I’m A Celebrity is around £400,000 which is one of the largest ever show fees to have been paid out," an ITV source recently told The Sun.
"ITV is keen for viewers to think the deal was worth around £150,000 but in reality it’s over double that.
“They asked him to be on the show three times in a matter of weeks and the money definitely helped seal the deal," they added.
The Mirror has reached out to an ITV spokesperson for further comment on this story.
Mr Hancock has had his Tory whip suspended as he was confirmed as an additional campmate for this year's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.
The Conservative Party suspended the whip after it emerged the former Health Secretary will be flying to Australia for the ITV hit show.
Despite losing the Tory whip, Mr Hancock will remain as an MP for West Suffolk, a role he has been in since 2010.
The new I'm A Celeb contestant will reportedly still be entitled to his MP salary of £84,144 while he is Down Under.
I'm A Celebrity usually takes place over a space of three weeks, and if he remains in the jungle for the full length of the show, he will receive £4,841 from his MP salary, according to Evening Standard.
When speaking of his role as an MP while he's on I'm A Celebrity, Hancock said: "As an MP, my first priority is to my constituents. I have agreed with the show's producers that I can be reached at any point on any urgent constituency matters."
