'I love how he's motivated to do more': Postecoglou delighted with Son's application

Ange Postecoglou is optimistic that Tottenham Hotspur will benefit from Son Heung-min’s aspiration to cement his legacy as a club legend.

The South Korean forward shone brightly, netting two goals in Spurs' impressive 4-0 triumph over Everton during their first home match of the season on Saturday.

Son capitalised on a mistake by Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for his opening goal and later slotted a precise low shot past the England international to wrap up the scoring.

“There’s no sort of set criteria for that stuff,” said Postecoglou. “But I’ve got no doubt that whenever he’s done and dusted – and it’s hopefully a long way down the track – he will be in esteemed company at this football club.

“I love the fact that he’s still motivated to do more. That’s the key thing for us. He was really good.

“It’s the reason I put him in the middle because we know Jordan (Pickford) is a big part of their build-up play, and they use him a lot. And Sonny’s the best presser that we have in the front there, he’s unbelievable.

“I think he relished that role and again showed his threat when he went out on the left with that great finish.”
