'I'll say it again' - Romelu Lukaku transfer plan outlined for Everton after audacious claim

Chris Sutton has urged Everton to make an audacious transfer move and bring Romelu Lukaku back to Goodison Park.

The Belgium international initially joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Chelsea almost a decade ago but after completing a £28million permanent switch the following summer, he went on to score 87 goals in 166 matches for Everton including 68 in the Premier League, a club record in the competition. Lukaku was sold to Manchester United for £75million plus add-ons in 2017 and after subsequent spells at Internazionale and Chelsea, he was back at the Italian club on loan last season.

Although transfer funds are understood to be tight at Everton with Financial Fair Play restrictions continuing to bite, Sutton, a former Chelsea striker himself, has urged the Blues to try and attempt to prise the 30-year-old away from Stamford Bridge again. He told 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport: “Everton, a great history, which the club has, if you are a player looking at Everton for the last decade or so, but you would think that there are better options out there.

Sean Dyche would have been thinking about this 24/7 about how to take that next step, with Calvert-Lewin, it’s so frustrating. We saw when he had a run towards the end of the season, the impact he can have. But Dyche can’t trust him.

“You have mentioned Maupay and it hasn’t happened for him. It doesn’t look like it will happen for him.

“Lukaku, go and get Lukaku. I have said Lukaku and I’ll say it again.”
