'I'll be honest' - Roberto Firmino tipped to leave Liverpool in summer transfer window

Roberto Firmino's time at Liverpool may be coming to an end in the summer after the 30-year-old lost his starting place to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz this season.

That's the opinion of former Everton striker Kevin Campbell who believes that Firmino, who has spent the last seven years at Anfield and is much loved by Reds fans, is the most likely member of the club's famous front three to leave.

The Brazilian is into double figures for goals this season after his double against Benfica in last week's Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with Benfica.

But he has made just nine starts in the Premier League given the continued fantastic form of Jota and the instant impact made by January transfer window signing Diaz.

And with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Firmino all out of contract in 2023, there has been speculation over whether any of the forwards who have played such a pivotal role for Jurgen Klopp could leave this summer.

And Campbell, who remains an Everton hero after helping the club beat relegation and score an Anfield derby winner, believes the Reds could cash in on Firmino and use the money to extend the contracts of Salah and Mane.

"I’ll be honest, I think Firmino will go even though I would like to see him stay. He is good enough to be a starter at another big club though," Campbell said to Football Insider.

"Liverpool will shuffle their pack this summer. I really think they will. Mane and Salah also need new contracts. It is very difficult to sign them all on the kind of wages they will want.

"It will be very interesting to see who signs and who doesn’t. I don’t think Firmino is the priority though."
