As a former professional gardener, I have planted many thousands of bulbs in public and private gardens across the UK and Italy. While some looks prove timeless, for example, almost-black 'Queen of Night' tulips planted alongside peach-red 'Menton' tulips, some combinations or varieties grow tired and lose popularity.
