"I had calls" - Benjamin Pavard makes transfer admission amid Manchester United links

Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard admitted that he "had calls" during the summer transfer window, as the defender opened up on the speculation that saw him linked with a move to Manchester United.

Pavard had been linked with a move away from Bayern this summer and it was thought that an offer of around £30million would have been enough to tempt the German club into a sale.

In his previous set-up at Ajax, Erik ten Hag's full-backs were a crucial part of his tactical approach to matches, and he is looking to instil the same philosophy at Old Trafford this season. Dalot's recent performances under Ten Hag have now perhaps lessened the urgency to improve the position in January, although United's manager will still be keen to provide competition to Dalot, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka currently out of the picture.

Pavard has now opened up on the speculation that saw him tipped for a potential move to United. Pavard admitted that he was uncertain over his future this summer and that he had options on the table for a move away from his Bundesliga side.

He told Telefoot: “I questioned myself. I had calls from different clubs with my agent. Afterwards, I had the Bayern coach with whom we spoke and with whom we have a good relationship. He made me understand that I was in his plans, that I was important for the team.

“Maybe one day I will go to one of these clubs, you never know what the future holds. I’m still a year at Bayern Munich. Afterwards, we have time to project ourselves.”
