Author Arjun Raj Gaind is back with his new novel 'The Anatomy of Loss' this year. The book is set in the backdrop of the aftermath of Operation Blue Star in 1984 which lead to a political unrest in Punjab, and the assassination of the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. The story follows Himmat Singh, the protagonist, as he tries to deal with his childhood traumas and identity. In this interview with us, author Arjun Raj Gaind talks about his inspiration for writing this story, his research process, writing and more. Excerpts:
1. What inspired you to revisit the 1984 pogrom and publish this novel now, roughly 40 years later?
