'I got this!' Tyler Roberts' message after season-ending hamstring injury as Leeds United suffer blow

Tyler Roberts has thanked the Leeds United fans for their messages of support after it was confirmed that the forward would miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

The club announced that Roberts ruptured a hamstring tendon during the Whites 1-0 defeat at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon. He has already had surgery on the issue and will spend a sufficient amount of time on the sidelines.

Roberts came on for Jesse Marsch's side in the 76th minute and suffered the injury early in his spell on the field. He chose to play on, despite the severity of the issue, but struggled to make any discernible impact as he effectively played on one leg.

It's a blow for both the player and the club as they battle to stay in the Premier League. Roberts has made 23 top-flight appearances this season, scoring one goal and was a regular in the side during Marcelo Bielsa's time in charge.

However, Patrick Bamford's return to fitness could help strengthen the Whites' options up front, with Joe Gelhardt and Rodrigo also available for selection.

Leeds are next in action when they face Aston Villa this Thursday in a vital game towards the bottom of the Premier League. Although Roberts won't be able to play, he is hoping to have as much of an impact as he can do on the sidelines.

In an Instagram message, he said: "Big blow with the news of missing the rest of the season. I wont be able to help physically but lord knows I will join our 12th man and be there every other way.

"Praise to the most high for a speedy and successful operation today. His plans don’t have mistakes.

"Thank you all for the messages! I got this."

The Whites have lost five of their last six matches and will be hoping to bounce back against Villa. They currently sit in 16th, just two points above the bottom three.
