I got a free bath bomb from Lush as retailer gives away 100,000 freebies today

There’s nothing quite like washing the day away with a colourful and beautifully scented bath bomb. And we all know Lush have made quite a name for themselves as the place to go to pick up goodies for an indulgent soak.

And today, to celebrate World Bath Bomb Day (yes, it’s a thing) the retailer is giving away 100,000 free bath bombs to customers.

Customers don’t need to make a purchase to bag the freebie, and can choose their favourite bath bomb to take home, or have their notoriously friendly staff help pick one to suit your needs.

I headed down to my nearest Lush store today to see if I could pick up a free bath bomb, and it couldn’t have been a simpler, or in fact, more confidence boosting experience.

When I arrived at 10.30am, an hour and a half after opening, there were few people in the sensationally scented store, so I felt like I was in luck.

Lush staff are notoriously welcoming, and greeted me as I headed in store past the World Bath Bomb Day sign.

I told the staff member I was here for World Bath Bomb Day and we got straight into an informal consultation, as she asked me if I prefer a relaxing bath bomb, or one of the more exciting, vibrant ones.

As a very visual person, I love a colourful bath bomb - one that will turn my bath water a gorgeous shade of pink or purple. And, after complementing my manicure and my outfit, the sales assistant suggested the Rose Gold bath bomb.

I wanted to go for something different to my usual, as I tend to pick up Toby’s Magic Cow or Peachy, and this £6 bath bomb seemed to tick all the boxes of what I look for in a bath fizzer.

The Rose Gold bath bomb is said to offer a ‘vibrant, shimmering sunset bath’ with orange and pink hues that swirl in the tub with gold glitter. It smells very floral with an ornate and tactile feel and makes a welcome change from my usual safe choices.

The Lush sales assistants made me feel like I was really valued and it was one of the most pleasant shopping experiences I’ve ever had. While I was there I enquired about some biodegradable face wipes, and while they don’t stock wipes, the lady recommended the Ultrabland facial cleanser, and made me a sample pot.

When you have a sample from Lush, you can bag 5p off your order when you bring a pot back, or 50p off when you bring back any full sized empty tub or spray, too.

I made my way over to the till to collect my freebies and asked if many people had been in for a bath bomb yet. I hadn’t seen any signage necessarily promoting the freebie, but many people have spotted the deal online.

A few people had reportedly queued in the morning, but the store still had more than 200 bath bombs ready to gift to customers who pop in and ask for one - or as an added extra to any shoppers spending in store.

The act of kindness aims to promote Lush’s new ‘book a bath’ experience in their Lush Spa locations like Oxford Street and Liverpool.

The 30 minute experience costs £40 where customers will be paired with products tailored to your skin and a personalised soundtrack. Each experience includes a bath bomb, a fresh face mask and cooling eye pads.
