A young couple have relived the terrifying moment their extremely premature baby was born at home weighing just over 1lb. Jenna Cullen and her partner Jack Harris, both 28, were shocked when their son Hunter arrived unexpectedly into the world 30 weeks into the pregnancy in November 2021.
Jenna, from Swansea, said that Hunter was so small and quiet that she initially thought he was dead. However with the help of an expert paramedic at the Welsh Ambulance Service who was quick to arrive on the scene, the tiny tot was kept warm, put on oxygen and given emergency care until he was taken to hospital where he remined for many months.
For Jenna, who works for the DVLA, everything was fairly normal with the pregnancy until she lost "a lot of water" at 20 weeks and was put on weekly monitoring. She recalled: "At my 28-week scan, I was told the water had increased and that things were fairly normal. A week after that, I started suffering back pains but put this down to Hunter lying on my back.
