MUMBAI: The Indian hockey team’s Olympic medal-winning performances -- back-to-back bronze medals in the 2021 and 2024 Games-- have revived the hopes of the hockey fans in the country, including former stalwarts of the game who witnessed years of underachievement following India’s maiden World Cup title 50 years ago in 1975.
Onkar Singh, debutant left-half from that World Cup-winning team, wished that India’s current side emulated the feat at the next World Cup in 2026, to be jointly held in Wavre, Belgium and Amstelveen, Netherlands.
