Departing loanee Callum Doyle has sent Sunderland supporters a thank you message as he returns to his parent club Manchester City. Doyle played a pivotal part in helping the Black Cats jump back to the Championship for the first time since 2018, making a total of 44 appearances last term.
The 18-year-old was also recently part of the England U19s side who claimed the U19 European Championships title, with Doyle scoring in the final against Israel in a 3-1 win. Following his loan spell on Wearside, Doyle will now return to Manchester City, where he will be keen to catch the eye of manager Pep Guardiola.
And in a tweet following his departure from the Stadium of Light, Doyle thanked everyone at Sunderland for the opportunities last season provided him.
As I return to my parent club Manchester City I would like to thank everyone @SunderlandAFC for the fantastic opportunities given to me. I enjoyed a brilliant season and worked along side an amazing squad who taught me so much, not forgetting the wonderful fans who supported me pic.twitter.com/WnEIZJwEqi
