'I divorced my husband after meeting soulmate on holiday but things took unexpected turn'

A UK woman who divorced her husband of 14 years to pursue a new romance with her "soulmate" was left devastated after the mysterious man let her down.

Mum of two, Amanda Trenfield and her husband started to drift apart as the spark they once had together in their twenties began to fade.

In the hopes of rekindling the flame, the life coach planned a short trip away with her husband but was left taken aback when her heart was kicked into action by a chance meeting with a man who she instantly recognised as her soulmate.

After meeting the man, Amanda decided to break things off with her husband, only to find her fairytale romance was set to take an unexpected turn.

Amanda told No Filter podcast she and her husband had decided to go on a short trip to hopefully "reconnect" after they had become "distant" during their 14-year marriage.

But, when the pair sat down for dinner together, the 41-year-old admitted that her attention was immediately drawn elsewhere, reports the Daily Star.

"We sat down, and I looked across the table, and I immediately lost my breath," she recalled.

"I saw a man across the table who I had met 12 years prior to that, and I just felt I knew him."

The man receiving Amanda's attention was named Jason, and the mum-of-two described how the pair had spent the whole night chatting.

They then met again in the morning alone for a walk, setting out their feelings for each other.

"The connection for me was just so acute at this time, so the conversation was quite intense, so it surprised both of us, the level of connection," she continued.

"I just remember so clearly looking into his eyes and feeling like I was home… My whole body was reacting to him, and it wasn't just a sexual reaction."

The pair even went on to share some kisses but made no further plans to meet up in the future despite Amanda's strong feelings.

"It was the feeling in my soul that I had met someone and had a connection with this person that I had never experienced before in my life," she said.

"As soon as we broke apart, the very first words out of his mouth were, 'oh no'... He recognised the connection as well."

Soon after they had returned from their holiday, Amanda ended things with her husband.

And although she admitted that meeting Jason had been the catalyst for her decision, the life coach confessed that it had been inevitable that the relationship would break down.

"Regardless of Jason's answer, I knew that I had to separate from my husband because that was the right thing to do for both of us," she explained.

"By us staying in a marriage that perhaps wasn't meant to be continued in the future, he couldn't move on with the next stage of his life."

But, when Amanda approached Jason again shortly after settling into singledom, she received a surprising setback.

"He said he would love to and asked when I would be available. Then the next morning, I got an email from him saying, 'Actually, I think it's best if we don't see each other and we don't stay in touch."

Amanda was left devastated by the response but respected Jason's wishes and went on to write a book titled When A Soulmate Says No, about her unusual tale.

And, although the pair may not have settled down and lived happily ever after together, the mum-of-two revealed that their relationship had ended amicably after she sent him a copy of the memoir.

"He wrote me an email the next day and said, 'Amanda, it's an excellent book. You should be very proud of yourself. Congratulations'," she said.

"I've stopped looking for it. I believe that if there is a soulmate connection that is right for me, then we will find each other. I'm very relaxed in that now."
