NEW DELHI: India had solidified their choices for the number four and number five positions for the upcoming ODI World Cup almost 18 months ago. However, their plans were abruptly disrupted due to a series of injuries to key batters, as highlighted by coach Rahul Dravid in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Dravid emphasised that the injuries sustained by prominent players such as Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant compelled the team management to explore alternative options in the middle-order during recent times. He clarified that these changes were not driven by mere experimentation, but rather a necessity dictated by the circumstances.
