Federal authorities have taken a 29-year-old man into custody following a violent assault on a 27-year-old tourist near Havasu Falls in Arizona. The incident, which occurred last Wednesday, left the victim, Alexis Rowan, with significant injuries after she was allegedly attacked while attempting to navigate the Havasupai Reservation.
According to ABC 7, the New York City mother was nearing the end of an eight-mile stretch of a 10-mile hike when she encountered Taylor Nardo Paya. Rowan, who was on a birthday hiking trip, had momentarily separated from a friend when she reached out to Paya, a member of the Havasupai tribe, to ask for directions to a gift shop.
