Fabian Schar says that drawing 0-0 with Crystal Palace felt like "a defeat" with Newcastle United players left furious with a controversial VAR call that denied them victory.
The Magpies have now been the victims of a clutch of bad calls on VAR with those decisions leaving them in the bottom half of the table. Schar admitted that he had to be careful what he said about the moment Tyrick Mitchell's own goal was wipied off, but stated he simply struggled to understand the logic.
After the game, Schar said: "It felt like a defeat. We had so many chances and deserved to win, and then there was also the decision on the goal which I don't understand what they are doing.

"It was an unlucky result. When you play like this it's hard.
"What was said at half-time was how important it was not to lose the game. You always have to defend properly and sometimes this game is cruel and you have to be ready to defend.
"We are disappointed when you look back at how we dominated but didn't win."
The incident was replayed on the big screens around St James' Park amid howls of discontent. Schar said: "Obviously [Willock] got a push in his back, I don’t know if they only showed [the referee] when he was falling into the keeper, but what can you do?"
Then when pressed on other VAR calls this term - including an incident that saw him denied a penalty against Man City - Schar said: "I better not say anything else."
Yet Schar could be happy with the defensive display from Newcastle and the overall performance level from his side.
Schar reflected: "In terms of performances 100%. "We have performed at a high level in the six matches.
"When you look at the points you want to have more. We have won only one game and in most of the games there was more for us to take. If we keep playing like this at this level the wins will come."
Newcastle head to West Ham for their next clash and the Switzerland international added: "We just try to play at a high level in every game and we want consistency every week. "What we done at the end of last year and this season as well. "We need to keep doing what we are doing and we will get the wins."
