The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police has apologised 'unreservedly' for the force's response on the night of the Manchester Arena bombing.
In a statement, Chief Constable Stephen Watson - who was not in charge of GMP at the time of the attack - admitted the force was 'inadequate' in its efforts on the night. He fully accepted the findings of the inquiry into the attack, volume II of which was released today.
Inquiry chair Sir John Saunders was highly critical of the emergency response to the bombing, with many of his complaints aimed at GMP's force control room.
